Women’s Day

Woman’s Day

Georgians greatly respect their women. It’s said that they’re endowed with a certain grace from non-other than the Mother of God herself. Because of this, I wasn’t surprised to learn that May 8th is “woman’s day.” What I did find surprising was that this national holiday was started by the Soviets, meaning its origin had nothing to do with the church.

Regardless, for this year’s women’s day the school-children put together a program for the female teachers. Knowing nothing of it ahead of time, I was thankful to have my camera for the occasion; below are some clips. Enjoy!

  1. Please keep that camera handy ! These are priceless and I’d hate for you (and I) to have missed the experience because your camera was not at hand.

Our thanks again for sharing this unique experience.
